This is education, not advice

The information here is written for the general reader and does not replace a personal medical consultation. It cannot tell you whether CO2 resurfacing is appropriate for your skin, your health or your circumstances.

No outcome is guaranteed

No treatment can be guaranteed. How much the skin improves, how long the improvement holds and how the skin settles after treatment vary between individuals, and no clinician can promise a particular result. Healing and response vary, and the honest judgement of a resurfacing result is made in months rather than weeks.

The healing and the risks are real

The surface of the skin is usually open for five to seven days after resurfacing, redness persists for weeks afterwards, and the treatment carries genuine risks including infection, scarring and pigment change in both directions. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is more common and more stubborn in darker skin, and pigment that is lost may not return.

Results are not permanent

Resurfacing improves the surface of the skin but does not stop ageing, does not lift tissue that has descended, and is not a facelift. The improvement fades gradually over years, and how quickly depends far more on sun exposure afterwards than on which device was used.
